The 150-kilometre-per-hour winds of Typhoon
Nida brought death and destruction to the Philippines this week.
At least 31 people were killed and hundreds more were made homeless
as the storm passed across the eastern part of the country on Wednesday.

Dianmu Kills 3 in Japan

(HDW) June 20, 2004 - This true-color image of Typhoon Dianmu
(Mother of Lightning in Chinese) was captured on June 20 at 2:25
UTC. At the time this image was taken Dianmu was packing sustained
winds of 92 mph with higher gusts to 115 mph and was moving north-northeast
at 15 mph.

Tingting spin side by side in the Pacific Ocean on June 30, 2004.
Mindulle (image left) left seven dead and two missing (according
to news reports) after it scraped across the Philippines on June
29 with winds reaching up to 173 miles per hour. (full

Mindulle Moves Destruction from Phillipines to Taiwan Philippines
(HDW) July 2, 2004 - As the northern Philippines island of
Luzon recovers from its brush with Typhoon Mindulle, the island
nation of Taiwan now bears the brunt of the storm. Mindulle was
responsible for 16 fatalities and 17 missing persons in the Philippines
mainly from flash floods and is now hitting the east coast of Taiwan
with 75 mph winds. Mindulle formed into a tropical depression from
a monsoon gyre back on the 23rd of June 2004 just west of the Northern
